Starfire was my first horse. She was given to me by my step-father when she was just six hours old. Starfire was the result of a breeding of a little Arabian stallion known as "Snickers" to my step-father's BLM Mustang mare, Wildfire.
I raised and trained Starfire myself. While I was waiting for her to grow up I purchased my first Paso Fino, a bold and independent Puerto Rican mare named Luz Nelia. While Nelia was teaching me to ride I transfered what I was learning to Starfire. When she turned 2 1/2 we went on our first trail ride and she's been moving along (one way or another) ever since. About a year later we were barrel racing and team penning. Oh what a team penner she became. She was quick and smart and there wasn't a calf out there that could out manuever her.
When Starfire turned 4 years old I bred her the first time to a friend's foundation bred Quarter Horse stallion, Doctor Leo Tag. Then on May 23rd, 1995 a bay filly called "Breezy Star" was born. With time off to raise her foal and get her figure back by hitting the trails again it wasn't till the Spring of 1996 that I bred her to my Paso Fino stallion, Fantasma de Dominar. Starfire produced another filly I named Stardust born on July 5th 1997. Stardust was sold as a weanling and ended up changing hands a couple times before becoming a treasured working ranch horse and a money winning barrel racer.
The next breeding in 1999 I decided to outcross her again, this time with the multi champion Arabian stallion, Khemos Centurion, of Sapphire Arabians. The resulting colt born March 8th of 2000, named Khemos Firey Comet, went on to become a great show horse himself. Comet earned regional titles in Sport Horse in Hand and Sport Horse Under Saddle, as well as numerous High Point titles and Championships in Halter, English Pleasure, Huntseat Pleasure, Western Pleasure, and Jumping.
In 2001 I ended up leasing Starfire out while she was once again in foal to my Paso Fino stallion, Fantasma de Dominar. The resulting colt, Vaquero, was born on April 24th, 2002 at Sapphire Arabians. After Vaquero was weaned I brought Starfire back home. Vaquero is currently being conditioned for CTR and Endurance by his current owner.
Starfire didn't stay home for long. The next Spring she was back out on lease and was bred to a "cutting bred" Quarter Horse. Starfire foaled a little red colt known affectionatley as "Demon" in the Spring of 2004. Once "Demon" was weaned Starfire once again returned home briefly before going back to Sapphire Arabians to be bred to the current breeding stallion, V Vodka Bey. "Demon" went on to become another great speed game horse while Starfire's resulting foal from V Vodka Bey, born September 15th 2005 known as Ezio Suave, is getting ready to go out for traning with an influential Arabian trainer with Sport Horse and Dressage competition in his future.
Just recently, at nearly 19 years old, Starfire has once again come home, for good. She was bred to the gorgeous Paso Fino stallion, Baccarat HP (a son of the legendary Capuchino) in December of 2008. On December 15th, 2009 Starfire foaled a vibrant and energetic filly named "Shava". In the Spring of 2010 Starfire will be bred back to Fantasma de Dominar for what will most likely be her last foal.
